Two birth dates
How we calculate
For each birth we find the Sun and Moon signs with the same method as the birth chart, using the open-source astronomy-engine library. Without a time we read the noon sky; if the Moon changed sign that day, we leave the Moon sign out, because it depends on the hour.
The birth moon comes from the angle between the Moon and the Sun that day; if a principal phase (new moon, first quarter, full moon, last quarter) fell on that local day, its name is shown. The rising sign is drawn only when both a time and a place are given.
The result has no score, no percentage and no “match or no match” verdict. Tradition reads the four elements side by side: fire with air and earth with water complete each other, the same element is kindred, and the other pairs teach each other through contrast. We give that as a picture to look at together, not as a verdict.
Everything is calculated in your browser. Birth dates, times and places are never sent to us or to a server; the link you share carries only the signs and the birth moons.
Questions
- Why is there no compatibility percentage?
- No number can say how well two people fit. Here tradition offers a picture; what it tells you is for the two of you to decide.
- Why is the Moon sign sometimes missing?
- The Moon changes sign about every two and a half days. Without a time, if the Moon changed sign that day, we cannot know which one you were born under. Add the birth time and the Moon sign appears, along with the third part.
- What do the elements mean?
- In tradition the twelve signs fall into four groups: fire (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius), earth (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn), air (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius) and water (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces). The element is a short summary of a sign’s temperament.
- What does the invitation link share?
- Only your signs and your birth moon. Whoever opens it adds their own birth date on their own device; the two skies are set side by side only there.
